Harry brings over 50 years of farming, teaching, and business experience when he works with individuals, non profits, and small and large farms. He wrote the original Oregon Tilth Certification standards, worked on what became the USDA standards, and with Dr. Alan Kapuler wrote The Transition Document, the 4th edition of which outlines many of the steps to be taken in converting chemical farms and gardens to organic production. He has been working on localizing food production for many years and consults with urban and suburban gardeners who want to convert landscaping into food production.

Harry as teacher and author speaks all over the USA and in other countries. His topics are as varied as the classes on our website where he is addressing a food or agriculture audience. He has keynoted several conferences including ACRES USA, the Northwest Permaculture Conference, and several Tilth conferences. He has spoken at many other conferences sharing his years of experience in organics, community organizing around food systems, local development, soil chemistry and biology, soil residues, nutrition. Harry also speaks as a writer, teaching others the tricks of writing from a poet-playwright's point of view.
Fees for speaking at conferences are negotiated depending upon the nature of the conference, how many are attending, and the conference charge. Fees always include expenses: car travel, airplane, hotel,and food.
Fees for other speaking engagements are also negotiated. Harry is willing to speak to any size group as long as his expenses are covered. Examples: he often speaks for Master Gardener groups all over Oregon and Washington.Contact Harry about Lecturing.
